A former Prince George’s County deputy sheriff was sentenced Friday to a year in prison for having sex with an inmate at the courthouse.
Lamar McIntyre, 33, was sentenced to three years, suspended all but one year, and 18 months supervised probation after pleading guilty last August to one count of sex with an inmate and one count of misconduct in office.
“Mr. McIntyre’s actions were reprehensible and embarrassing for all those who work in our courthouse,” said Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks. “ Those charged with protecting and serving the community should never use their position to take advantage of someone in their custody.”
According to prosecutors, a 34-year-old female inmate was awaiting to see a judge in June 2012 when McIntyre took her into a holding cell and had consensual sex. She reported the incident to staff at the department of corrections. McIntyre admitted “his involvement,” and he immediately was charged with second-degree rape.
McIntyre had been with the county sheriff’s office since 2009.
