On this day, Feb. 19, 1982, British heavy metal rocker Ozzy Osbourne was arrested for urinating on a memorial in front of the Alamo in San Antonio.

Police found the former Black Sabbath frontman wearing his girlfriend’s dress and desecrating the memorial cenotaph honoring the men who died defending the Spanish mission, including Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie.

After his arrest, Osbourne told a San Antonio newspaper that he liked to defile public shrines. “I pissed on the Alamo, and the White House is next.”

The city officially banned Osbourne from performing at any city owned venue. He eventually returned to San Antonio 10 years later after donating $10,000 to the Alamo’s custodians, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
