A D.C. firefighter has been arrested for passing counterfeit prescriptions for potent pain killer medications at area pharmacies, authorities said.
Thirty-five-year-old Henry Claggett Dent, 35, of Leonardtown, Md., was arrested Thursday on prescription drug charges. Additional charges are pending, and the investigation now includes officers from the Office of Internal Affairs for D.C. Fire and EMS.
St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office said they received a tip earlier this week about a fraudulent prescription used at a pharmacy in Hollywood, Md. Police say they notified local pharmacies and provided a suspect description.
On Thursday, a suspect matching the description in the original case passed another prescription at a pharmacy in Charlotte Hall, Md., police said.
Witnesses described the suspect as a “white male wearing a fire uniform.” Detectives responded and apprehended the suspect as he exited the store.
Recovered from the suspect and his vehicle were 47 “Oxycodone” pills, 18 additional fraudulent prescriptions in various stages of completion, 6 empty prescription bottles obtained from other pharmacies located in Calvert County, Prince George’s County and D.C.. Also recovered were items of electronic evidence to include a laptop, thumb drive and a tablet.
