I’ve been trying to think of an explanation for this post’s title, Freedom Friday, but I can’t. As I said earlier, I’d really like to start sharing more great content that I find around the web, and for some reason Freedom Friday just seemed to fit that purpose. I can’t explain it. I guess it doesn’t matter though, because by the time you read this, you may already be in weekend mode, and have blown off the blogosphere completely. I promised myself I’d never use the word blogosphere in a post (I kind of hate it), and now look, I’ve done it twice. So before I dig myself in a hole any further, here are the fantastic finds I’ve dug up this past week:
♥ Even though I’m new to blogging, and didn’t even know what Alt Summit was before it happened (and then my twitter feed blew up), I was loving all of the tips coming in. To keep the momentum, Victoria posted another tip this week that’s useful to any blogger using photos they found online. Yay, crediting the source!
♥ Last week was Australia Day, and I only know this because I happen to be dating a citizen of that lovely country (and am friends with many others). To celebrate, Steph made an absolutely beautiful green+gold checkerboard cake. Somehow, some way, I will find a way to do it too. Canada Day?
♥ In preparation for Superbowl Sunday (I’m hoping the Pats get destroyed, by the way), Erica made cupcakes–with beer. I know, right? They’re like, man cupcakes. Awesome.
♥ Here’s an interesting read from The Grindstone about how others perceive you based on the way you dress for the office. I am 100% on board with this idea, and even wrote about it previously, here.
♥ I’m pretty useless when it comes to false lashes, but The Beauty Department nearly had me buying these awesome sea-creature extensions. I’m sure they’d look ridiculous on me, but how great of an icebreaker is “I have an octopus on my eye”? Not gunna lie, after that, I’d wanna hear more.
♥ I know, the Sh*t ___ Says videos are so overdone. But have you seen Sh*t Nobody Says? Funny, I promise.
♥ I’ve been thinking about getting personal business cards for a while now, but can’t find the right design. Chelsea’s semi-DIY cards have kind of inspired me to at least start figuring out what I want.
♥ Christine’s tips for incorporating current trends into the office are fantastic for those of us who admire the more fashion forward bloggers, but have strict dress codes to adhere to. How great is the colourblocking?
Did you guys find anything else that was really awesome this week? I love finding little gold mines of information and photography all over the internet. Some might call me an internet junkie, but I like to consider myself knowledge hungry. But actually though, I’m an internet
junkie. I’m cool with it. Happy (Freedom) Friday!
